Why can't I open my formatted figure?
If you received EPS (.eps) files as part of your Figure Formatting order, the target journal that you identified requests that line art figures be submitted as EPS files. These types of files are editable and excellent for producing high-resolution figures in the manuscript, but they can be difficult to view and work with unless you have specialized software.
EPS files can be opened and viewed if you have Adobe Acrobat (but not Adobe Reader). They can also be viewed by inserting them in a Microsoft Word or PowerPoint file, but in these files, they are shown at a low resolution that is not representative of the original file. When we provide EPS files, we also include a high-resolution TIFF file for each line art figure to allow you to view your figures easily. The contents of the TIFF and EPS versions of each figure are identical. The TIFF files can also be used in posters or presentations.
