What file types are accepted for Figure Formatting?

We accept the following file types for our Figure Formatting service:

  1. Any standard graphic format, such as .tif, .jpg, .png, .bmp, or .gif,
  2. figures placed inside Microsoft Office files:
    1. .doc, .docx (Word
    2. .ppt, .pptx (PowerPoint)
    3. .xls, .xlsx (Excel),
  3. PDF,
  4. .ai, .ait (Adobe Illustrator),
  5. .psd, .pdd (Adobe Photoshop), or
  6. .eps (various programs).
Vector-based figures can be provided at any size. Images (such as photographs) must be provided at a resolution of at least 200 dpi.

File types that are not on this list should be exported as .eps or .pdf files. If you use alternative software, we can also advise you on how to export figures in one of our recommended file types.
